Select Services & VAE Group are proud to see the successful completion of the new Charles Darwin University City campus, Danala | Education and Community Precinct, built on the beautiful Larrakia land in the Northern Territory. Danala, named after the Larrakia word for "dillybag," was constructed by local Darwin contractor and project lead DCOH (formerly Halikos). Select Services, serving as the HVAC mechanical contractor, appreciated the opportunity to collaborate with the skilled DCOH team on this exceptional project.

This $250 million project was the centerpiece to the Darwin City Deal, a partnership between the Australian and Northern Territory governments and Charles Darwin University. A landmark project, our subcontract included the design completion, full drafting in Revit 3D, duct and mechanical services pipework installation, mechanical electrical and the Building Management System using our own in-house automation team.

This project not only enhances the educational landscape of our community but also represents the power of collaboration in local development. We look forward to more opportunities to work with DCOH on future projects that will continue to shape and enrich our region.

Here’s to building a brighter future together!

CDU has always championed the efforts of the Territory’s trades workforce in leading local infrastructure projects that make Darwin an even better place to live, study, work, and travel, ~ highlights Professor Bowman.

Danala is made for Territorians, by Territorians, and will ensure students are getting the education they deserve in a modern facility that suits Darwin.
It is spacious, can handle the Territory’s unique weather and climate, and will support local events and entertainment in our community.

I am grateful for the dedication of all contractors in bringing the campus to life.

CDU Vice-Chancellor Professor Scott Bowman said the University was proud of the Territory’s skilled trades professionals in building this important new addition to the CDU campus network. Professor Bowman was joined by the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, The Honourable Catherine King MP; the NT Minister for Education and Training, Early Education and Public Service, The Honourable Jo Hersey MLA; and Member for Solomon, Mr Luke Gosling MP, to open the campus.
