Watpac engage VAE GroupCairns Innovation Centre, James Cook University
VAE Group have started work on the Cairns Innovation Centre (CIC) at James Cook University (JCU) Campus. Engaged by Watpac to undertake the HVAC Solutions on the project, VAE are thrilled to be a part of the construction team, providing a state-of-the-art facility for the Cairns community.
The CIC building has a unique façade which is wrapped in a mesh fabric screen so that coloured images can be projected onto the building. With internal spaces structured around a central atrium featuring a floor to ceiling green wall and floating staircase, the CIC building sets a new benchmark for contemporary and sustainable design.
VAE’s contract includes the supply and installation of the mechanical services including: Air Handling Units (AHU), Preconditioner Units (PCU), Chilled Water Fan Coil Units (FCU), associated pipe and ductwork, Mechanical Services Switchboard (MSSB) and the Building Management System (BMS).
This is VAE’s second major project on JCU Cairns Campus, following Australian Institute of Tropical Health & Medicine (AITHM) completed in 2018.
We look forward to working closely with the Watpac team to deliver a truly innovative building at the James Cook University Campus in Cairns.
