Project UpdateNew Defence Air Traffic Control and Airfield Systems Project at RAAF Base Darwin
Construction is well underway on the Defence Air Traffic Control and Airfield Systems Complex at RAAF Base Darwin. The Air Traffic Complex comprising of three elements; a 50m Air Traffic Control Tower (ATC), associated Energy Building, and an extension to the existing Airfield Systems Complex (ASC) which provides approach control services and associated back up facilities for the tower. VAE have been engaged by Lend Lease to undertake the major mechanical services on the project. The new 50m Tower is a multi-level facility. The existing tower which remains operational during construction will be demolished following the commissioning of the new facility. VAE have completed the upgrade of the support service building chilled water infrastructure and are well progressed on the balance of the project. We are very excited to be working with Lend Lease and the Department of Defence again in the NT.
