James Cook University Technology Innovation Complex

VAE are proud to continue our successful relationship with BESIX Watpac with our recent award of the design and construction of the mechanical services for the $94m JCU Technology Innovation Complex (TIC) at the JCU Townsville Campus in Douglas.

The four-storey, 9,400m2 Technology Innovation Complex will be the focal point of JCU’s Innovation Hub where undergraduate and post graduate Engineering and IT students, industry partners and researchers will congregate and collaborate.

The TIC will transform the JCU Townsville campus and link the JCU Ideas Lab in Cairns as the ‘combined home’ for innovation and digital transformation activities in North Queensland.

VAE successfully completed the JCU Cairns campus Ideas Lab with BESIX Watpac in Q1 2021.
