Capricornia Correctional CentreHVAC Solutions for central QLD prison

The Capricornia Correctional Centre is located 20km north of Rockhampton. The high-security facility currently includes 410 cells. After the $241m expansion is complete (2021), the correctional centre will have a total of 348 new cells, and 396 new beds. VAE Group have been engaged by CPB Contractors to provide the HVAC Solutions on the project.

Some key highlights already completed –

  • Installation of approximately 300m of new underground pre-insulated chilled water pipework, roughly 60m of which was tunnel bored under the live Correctional Centre fencing
  • Completed new chilled water Central Energy Plant (CEP) with four new high-efficiency Smardt Chillers and stainless steel EVAPCO Cooling towers.
