The Stage 2 scope of works for the Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment project included the delivery of the new five-storey Clinical Services Building (CSB), refurbishment of the existing clinical services building, a new Multi-Storey Carpark (MSCP), and the relocation of Building Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) as well as upgrades to the Central Energy Plant (CEP).
The new five-storey Clinical Services Building includes:
Level 1 – new Main entry, café and visitors lounge, New expanded Emergency Department, Outdoor courtyard and Admissions, Security, and Volunteers Hub
Level 2 – 6 operating theatres, 2 Endoscopy Rooms, 16 Post Anaesthetics Care Unit Bays and 20 Planned Procedure Ward Bays, plus a 10-bed Intensive Care Unit.
Level 3 – 14-bed Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit, 10-bed Palliative Care unit and space for a 20-bed Rehabilitation unit. A Plantroom serving the theatres and surrounding areas as well as the In Patient Units (IPU’s).
Level 4 – Cardiac Sciences Unit, 4-bed Chest Pain Assessment Unit, 8-bed Cardiac Care Unit, 16-bed Medical Ward, and 32-bed Medical Ward
Level 5 – Plantroom to serve the new building including the chilled and hot water systems, ventilation, and Air Handling Units.
The existing CSB Building Refurbishment scope (SP3), is now due to be carried out following the new building construction, involving the relocation and refurbishment of multiple departments including the Emergency Department (ED), Medical Day Unit, Pathology and Central Sterilising Department (CSSD) within the existing clinical services building.
