Brisbane Airport CorporationDomestic Terminal Building Upgrade -
Stage 2
Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) has been working hard over the last few years to improve facilities and the passenger experience at both the International and Domestic terminals and has been voted Best Airport in Australia/Pacific 2019 in the prestigious Skytrax global awards for the third time.
As part of a major redevelopment of the Domestic Terminal Building (DTB) works on both level 1 and 2 are underway to create a world-class airport environment for travellers.
VAE are proud to be involved in providing mechanical services solutions for BAC with Stage 1 of the DTB upgrade completed in September 2018 and now Stage 2, due for completion in 2019.
Stage 2 involves the removal and replacing of 13 Air Handling Units (AHU’s); replacing chillers, electrical, and Building Management System (BMS) serving the Level 1 and 2 of the terminal building.
As part of Stage 2, VAE will decommission and demolish two existing (1600kW) chillers in the plantroom, substituting these with a new (3200kW) chiller.
VAE and BAC have worked closely to produce a detailed and comprehensive project plan to minimise disruption to both airport operations and the public which is pivotal to a successful project outcome. This is no small feat considering that the airport operates 24 hours per day, seven days a week, with nearly 24 million passengers travelling through the airport in FY19.
VAE Group are excited to be back on site with BAC again.
Standby for VAE’s next update on the AHU progress at BAC DTB.
