The Kind Foundation, Papa Hou Building

Last month marked the completion of construction for Papa Hou, the Kind Foundation's new three-storey, 4000m² facility officially opened in Christchurch. Formerly known as the YMCA Christchurch, the rebranding aims to convey a more inclusive ethos.

Cook Brothers Construction engaged VAE Group to deliver the mechanical services for Stage 2 of the project. This phase entailed the construction of a dedicated building for the foundation’s community-based activities. The facility includes a black box theatre, preschool, health and wellbeing spaces, educational facilities for young people, dance and movement studios, and various support tenants, including a general medical practice and physiotherapy.

Papa Hou stands as a cross-cultural and cross-generational haven, a vibrant new home at the heart of Otautahi Christchurch for the local community.
VAE Group is honoured to have collaborated with Cook Brothers on this iconic project, contributing to the well-being of the people of Christchurch.
